Use Import Weather Images to create a layer that displays live weather radar and other dynamic image feeds.

Procedure

1) Select Import Weather Images from the Import menu.

2) Select a State.  There is a Regional selection at the bottom of the list.

3) Select a radar site.  These are usually named by the nearest city.

4) Select the type of feed offered by this site.  Reflectivity and Warnings are the two most common.  See http://radar.weather.gov/GIS.html for details.

5) Enter a name for the layer

Notes:

• These images are only refreshed on the screen whenever you zoom in/out/pan or redraw.  They do not update by themselves without user intervention.
• New images are retrieved from the web site no more often than once per minute.
• There is no time lapse animation supported yet.
